Clinical Specialties

How I can help

While my training prepared me to treat a large variety of mental health issues, below are a few specific ones to provide examples of my clinical approach.

Eating Disorders

In 1999, as a post-doctoral fellow, I treated adolescents with eating disorders in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. In addition to seeing my own patients struggling with eating disorders after that year was completed, I continued to supervise clinical trainees and early career psychologists in the treatment of ED. I am a founding member of the Houston Eating Disorders Specialists organization, and I maintain close collaboration with physicians, dietitians, and other professionals who may comprise of a treatment team for any individual struggling to recover from an eating disorder.

Anxiety, OCD, Depression, and other Anxiety and Mood Disorders

There is a wealth of scientific data supporting the treatment of anxiety-based disorders. I am well-trained in and use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which is the treatment identified as the most effective for treating anxiety and mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder. I also work closely, if needed, with psychiatrists and other healers to supplement the therapy process.
